Barkov Questionable For Game 3 Of Stanley Cup Final

Oilers' Draisaitl Avoids Suspension for Hit on Panthers' Barkov

Barkov Questionable for Game 3 of Stanley Cup Final

Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl has escaped supplemental discipline for his hit on Aleksander Barkov that knocked the Florida Panthers captain out of Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final.

Barkov was hurt with 9:28 left in the third period when Draisaitl, the Oilers' star center, went in for a check, left his feet and hit Barkov in the jaw with his elbow.

Barkov left the game and did not return. He is questionable for Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final, which is scheduled for Wednesday night in Edmonton.

The hit by Draisaitl drew a minor penalty for roughing. The NHL Department of Player Safety reviewed the hit and decided that it did not warrant a suspension.

This is the second time this postseason that Draisaitl has been involved in a controversial hit. In Game 1 of the Western Conference Final against the Calgary Flames, Draisaitl was assessed a minor penalty for elbowing Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson.

The Panthers and Oilers are tied 1-1 in the Stanley Cup Final. Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday night in Edmonton.
