Hill becomes first British driver to win a Grand Prix at Silverstone since David Coulthard in 2000

Damon Hill achieved a historic victory at the Silverstone Grand Prix on Sunday, becoming the first British driver to win a Grand Prix at the iconic circuit since David Coulthard in 2000.

Starting from pole position, Hill led from start to finish, controlling the race throughout and holding off a late charge from Ferrari's Michael Schumacher.

The victory was Hill's first since the 1998 Hungarian Grand Prix, and his first for the Jordan team.

"It's like a dream," said Hill after the race. "I never thought I would win a Grand Prix again, especially at Silverstone. This is the greatest moment of my career."

Hill's victory was a popular one with the British fans, who had been waiting for a home winner at Silverstone for over 20 years.

The victory also moved Hill up to third in the Drivers' Championship standings, behind Schumacher and Mika Hakkinen.
